Applies to: Directors, employees, workers and business operations

1. Purpose

Thrive Recruitment Group Plymouth Ltd (“Thrive”) recognises its responsibility to operate in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. As a small recruitment business, our direct environmental impact is relatively limited, but we are committed to taking practical and proportionate steps to reduce waste, conserve water and energy, use resources efficiently and consider environmental impacts in our day-to-day decisions.

This policy sets out Thrive’s environmental and sustainability approach and provides evidence of the measures we take in relation to water efficiency, resource use and wider environmental management.

2. Scope

This policy applies to Thrive’s directors, employees and office-based business operations. It also provides the principles that guide our purchasing, administration, travel and engagement with suppliers and clients.

Temporary workers placed at schools, SEND settings, alternative provision, colleges and other client premises are expected to comply with the environmental and sustainability arrangements in place at the client site.

3. Environmental commitments

Thrive will seek to:

  • use water, energy, paper and other resources efficiently;
  • prevent and reduce waste wherever reasonably practicable;
  • reuse and recycle materials where suitable arrangements are available;
  • use digital recruitment and administrative processes to reduce unnecessary paper consumption;
  • consider environmental factors when making proportionate purchasing and supplier decisions;
  • reduce unnecessary business travel where practical while maintaining an effective local recruitment service;
  • encourage environmentally responsible behaviour among those working for the Company; and
  • review our environmental practices regularly and identify realistic opportunities for improvement.

4. Water efficiency and conservation

Thrive is committed to using water responsibly. Our office-based activities are not water intensive and we do not operate manufacturing, industrial or other processes requiring significant water consumption. Nevertheless, we recognise that avoiding unnecessary water use contributes to responsible environmental management.

Our approach to water efficiency includes:

  • encouraging staff to avoid leaving taps running unnecessarily and to use water sensibly in kitchen and washroom facilities;
  • reporting visible leaks, dripping taps or other water-related maintenance issues promptly to the person or organisation responsible for the premises;
  • avoiding unnecessary use of water when cleaning or carrying out routine office activities;
  • supporting water-efficient fixtures, equipment and practices where these are within Thrive’s control and are practical to implement;
  • following any water-saving measures introduced by the building or premises manager; and
  • reviewing water use and efficiency as part of the Company’s annual environmental policy review.

5. Water use at client premises

Thrive does not control utilities or water systems at client premises. Temporary workers supplied by Thrive must follow the client’s local arrangements for water conservation, hygiene, cleaning and environmental management.

Where a worker notices a significant leak or unnecessary loss of water at a client site, they should report it to an appropriate member of the client’s staff rather than attempting repairs themselves unless this forms part of their authorised role.

6. Energy efficiency

Thrive aims to avoid unnecessary energy consumption within the areas it can reasonably influence. Staff are encouraged to switch off lights, monitors and other electrical equipment when they are not required, subject to operational, security and equipment requirements.

When purchasing or replacing office equipment, energy efficiency and expected useful life may be considered alongside cost, quality, security and business requirements.

7. Waste and resource efficiency

Thrive operates a separate Waste Management & Reduction Policy. In summary, the Company prioritises waste prevention, responsible use of resources, reuse, recycling and appropriate disposal.

  • Electronic documents and digital processes are used where practical.
  • Printing and paper consumption are kept to what is reasonably necessary.
  • Confidential and data-bearing waste is securely destroyed.
  • Recyclable materials are separated and recycled where suitable facilities are available.
  • Electrical equipment and other specialist waste are disposed of through appropriate routes.

8. Sustainable purchasing and suppliers

Where relevant and proportionate, Thrive may consider environmental factors when purchasing goods or selecting suppliers. These may include product durability, packaging, recycled content, opportunities for reuse or recycling, energy efficiency and the supplier’s own environmental practices.

Environmental considerations will be balanced against safeguarding, legal compliance, information security, service quality, availability and value for money.

9. Travel and recruitment activities

Thrive is a locally based recruitment business supporting clients across Devon and Cornwall. Travel is sometimes necessary for meetings, client visits, candidate engagement and other business purposes.

Where practical, Thrive will consider telephone or video meetings where an in-person meeting is not necessary, coordinate journeys efficiently and avoid unnecessary travel. This commitment does not prevent face-to-face engagement where it provides clear operational, safeguarding, relationship or service benefits.

10. Digital working

Thrive seeks to use electronic recruitment, compliance, communication and document-management processes where appropriate. This helps reduce paper, printing, postage and physical storage requirements while supporting efficient service delivery.

Digital working must always be carried out in accordance with Thrive’s Data Protection Policy and information security arrangements.

11. Responsibilities

The Board of Directors has overall responsibility for this policy. Ryan Yeoman, Managing Director, is responsible for its day-to-day implementation and annual review.

Everyone working for Thrive is expected to use resources responsibly, follow reasonable environmental procedures and report material issues such as leaks, unnecessary waste or avoidable energy use where appropriate.

12. Monitoring and continuous improvement

Given the size and nature of Thrive’s operations, environmental monitoring will remain proportionate. The Company will review its approach at least annually and consider whether additional measures are appropriate as the business develops.

Our current environmental objectives are to:

  • maintain responsible and efficient water use within the areas Thrive can control;
  • respond promptly to known leaks or water wastage by reporting them to the responsible party;
  • maintain a digital-first approach where appropriate;
  • reduce avoidable paper, energy and material consumption;
  • make reasonable use of recycling arrangements;
  • consider sustainability in relevant purchasing decisions; and
  • review environmental practices and objectives at least annually.

13. Related policies

This policy should be read alongside Thrive’s Waste Management & Reduction Policy, Data Protection Policy, Health and Safety Policy and other relevant business procedures.

14. Approval and review

This Environmental & Sustainability Policy was adopted by the Board of Directors of Thrive Recruitment Group Plymouth Ltd on 03/09/2026. It will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner where legislation, contractual requirements, business activities or environmental risks change.
